Keyvon Washington Obituary, Death; Hamden Family Mourns 18-Year-Old Son Shot and Killed in Targeted Attack

Keyvon Washington Obituary
HAMDEN, Conn. — A Hamden family is grieving the loss of their 18-year-old son, Keyvon Washington, who was shot and killed in his car on Mix Avenue on Saturday in what police describe as a targeted attack.

Police responded to reports of a shooting Saturday evening and found Washington unresponsive in his vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The initial investigation indicates that three individuals approached Washington’s car and opened fire before fleeing the area. The Hamden Police Department is actively investigating the homicide but has not yet released information regarding suspects or a motive.

Washington’s mother, Keyna Washington, and stepfather, Eleazar Thompson, are left heartbroken, remembering a young man on the cusp of positive change.

“As soon as I came to the scene, I saw his car and I knew it was him,” Keyna Washington told local reporters.

“Just like any other kid, he had his phases in life, and it’s just sad that it happened now when he was really making a major change,” Eleazar Thompson said. “It’s tragic because you can’t rewind the tape. He’s gone.”

The family described Keyvon as a passionate cook with a big heart, someone who was always protective of the people he loved. His sudden and violent death has left a void for his family and the wider community.

No arrests have been announced. The Hamden Police Department is urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward as detectives work to identify the three suspects involved.
