MERIDEN, Conn. — A large section of Cook Avenue was closed to traffic Monday afternoon following a shooting, the Meriden Police Department confirmed.
The incident occurred around 12 p.m., according to authorities. Police were dispatched to the scene and established a significant perimeter, shutting down the roadway for investigation.
No information regarding potential victims, suspects, or the circumstances of the shooting was immediately released.
“It was not clear when the road will reopen,” a police spokesperson stated, indicating the closure would be in place for an extended period as detectives process the scene.
The sudden midday violence on a main artery has disrupted traffic and raised concerns in the neighborhood. Drivers are being advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes until further notice.
